I’ve been lucky enough throughout my career, both in menswear and as a freelance photographer, to travel to Florence twice a year for the last 15 or so years.

When I’m in the city I don’t really get much of an opportunity to do any sight seeing as I’m mostly shooting during the day and then attending events in the evening so this City Guide isn’t really going to cover anything like that.

To be honest, you don’t really need recommendations like that for Florence. It’s a walkable city, meaning you can stroll end to end and see all the classics along the way; the Uffizi Gallery, Il Duomo, the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, Michelangelo’s David etc etc.

But what I DO have recs for is FOOD. And a little drink and a little shopping…

Enjoy!

Restaurants and Bars

Trattoria Cammillo - Borgo San Jacopo

One of my two favourite restaurants in Florence. I was first introduced to this gem via Michael Hill of Drake’s and it is somewhere I keep coming back to time and time again.

Whether Summer or Winter I always order the Tortellini en Brodo (above) and the, and hear me out because I know this is a strange on for Italy, the chicken curry.

A wonderful atmosphere and usually packed for lunch and dinner most days so be sure to call ahead, especially in the summer.
