sloppyshoepolish asks - “Photographers seem to wear clothes with function. Which of your pieces has the most/least function?”
The amount of times I’ve asked other photographers what we all look for in our clothing and it’s the same answer always; how many pockets it got?
This has led me down the rather tumultuous path of searching for gear that has MANY pockets, trying to maintain some sense of sartorialism and ignoring the more standard gear carrying operati e.g. backpacks.
I’ve ended up really loving the following items that serve that skewed functionality;
Columbia Sportswear Fishing Vest
And as much as it KILLS me to say it, the least functional items in my wardrobe is ALL of my tailoring. I love all of my tailored babies equally but when it comes to being on set or location, wherever that may be, those tailored babies are nothing but a hindrance.
You’ve all seen the weird f*ckin’ poses that photographers get into, even when you’re trying not to! It happens man. I’m down on my knees, I’m shooting through bins, I’m rolling around in the dirt and bushes on some great outdoorsman cosplay sh*t (so hawwwt). Let me tell you, I ain’t putting my tailored babies through that. No sir. Tailored babies get to stay in the warm, dry closet where it’s safe. I LOVE MY TAILORED BABIES. Stay safe, be cute.
