With the WM Brown Magazine Spring ‘25 issue now dropping in select stores around the globe, it seemed as good a time as any to write a few words about my experience producing it and dumping a surfeit of behind the scenes from the Rally itself.
This trip was a labour of love for myself, John Sugden of Campbell’s of Beauly and of course, Matt Hranek. I had been inspired by a train trip I’d been on which Matt had organised back in 2019, when we rode the rails on The Royal Scotsman and wanted to create something with a similar feeling; camaraderie, great food, phenomenal drinks and, of course, excellent menswear.
Due conversation over the last 1.5 years amongst the three of us during subsequent shoots and shoots up in the Scottish Highlands resulted in the creation of what would be the WM Brown Tweed Rally.
We couldn’t have achieved anything without the support from all of our amazing sponsors; Fox Brothers, Globetrotter, Serica Watches, The Dalmore, The Torridon Hotel, J.Mueser, Harris Tweed Hebrides, Ettinger, The Anthology, William Crabtree & Sons, J.C Newman Cigars, Isle of Harris Gin, and Brimoncourt Champagne.
Huge shout out to all the guys who came along and helped make the trip what it was; Andreas Klöw, Tommaso Capozzoli, Simon Crompton, Manish Puri, Paul Croughton, Jake Mueser, Jonas Sundstrom, Matthew Woodruff, Lorenzo Sodi, James Priestley, Buzz Tang, Jerome Burgert, Nicolas Amsellem, Gabriel Vachette, Julien Rideau, Douglas Cordeaux, Monte Cordeaux, Simon de Burton, Patrick Osborne-Fox, Zachary Weiss and our wonderful mechanic, Rory Dunlop.
Finally, to my co-conspirators, Matt and John; I still can’t get over the fact that we pulled this off. And with relatively little to no stress; a couple breakdowns aside. Cheers to you both and here’s to the next one!
Please enjoy these BTS and if you haven’t already be sure to go and pick up a copy of the WM Brown Magazine issue no.19 for more in depth coverage of the Tweed Rally.
All the best,
Jamie
